Introduction

Hello Beautiful & Gorgeous Women All Around the World! Today, we are going to discuss the 7 Amazing Anti-Aging beauty habits backed by science for glowing skin.  As a society we have continued taking better care of ourselves and our skin. Today, 50 and 60 no longer look the way they once did.  When science continues to improve our lives for a longer life, the desire to maintain a youthful, vibrant appearance continues to grow.  Why?  Some people may say it’s vanity.  I believe people feel as young as they think, look, and feel. Taking care of our skin sends a message to the world and most importantly ourselves that we are capable of being independent, competent, competitive, and being dream achievers.

What is Aging-Beautifully Really About?

The 7 anti-aging beauty habits for glowing skin backed by science are not here to make anyone feel bad about what they haven’t done.  Instead, this article exists to ensure that no matter where you start on your journey of taking care of your skin, your skin will improve.  Why does this matter? When people look good, they feel good. People who age want to look as good as they feel on the inside.   We are ensuring we look as good as we feel for generations to come by taking care of our skin from the inside-out.

My hope for anyone reading this article, men or women, is that you care.  When, not if,  longevity science breakthroughs occur, how we have taken care of our skin will be “the new currency”.  This “new currency” will demonstrate and say whether or not we’ve taken care of our health.  Beauty habits are more than vanity or trying to recapture youth.  These habits allow people to look amazing while gaining the advantage only time can provide -experience.  Optimizing our health plus having experience equals amazing potential in terms of opportunities and career.  What those opportunities become …is entirely up to you.

7 Amazing Anti-Beautifully Habits for Glowing Skin

1. SPF — the #1 Aging-Gracefully Non-Negotiable

Many people believe it’s unnecessary to wear SPF unless they’re going to the beach.  Despite contrary belief, SPF is needed everyday. SPF stands for Skin Protection Factor.  Experts recommend the range of SPF needed to protect people from facial skin aging is SPF 30-100.

About 80% of skin aging has been found to be from UV damage over time.  Broad-spectrum SPF 30 or more protects people from these UV rays.  Research has shown significantly less skin aging in participants who used daily sunscreen compared to those who used it occasionally. That’s a long time to go without “aging” huh!

There are 50+ year-old women on social media who recommend using SPF 50 or higher to maintain that healthy, glowing appearance. All I can say, is the sooner you start the better.  Furthermore, if you haven’t started, the next best time to start is now. Most importantly, use SPF rain or shine; cloudy or sunny; beach, farm, or city…use SPF! SPF is the #1 anti-aging secret of many people, why not you.

One more thing!  It does not matter how deep (dark) your skin may be or your race.  SPF is important to use daily. Many people have told me that I look good…for my age…whatever the last part means! I take it as…” On my momma, On my hood, I look fly, I look good”   If you know, you know 🙂

The SPF products I use/recommend and plan to try are:

Aveeno SPF: easy to apply for daily use

Neutrogena Collagen Bank SPF 30

Plan to try:

2. Move your body — Exercise allows us to age-beautifully

“Move it!”  If you don’t use it, you lose it!  This rings true for not just mobility but skin elasticity.  Did you know that exercise leads to collagen support?!  Yes, exercise helps our muscles, heart, and our skin.  How you might ask?  Exercise increases circulation leading to an increase of oxygen and nutrients to the skin.  This reduces inflammation which occurs as everyone ages.

There are plenty of ways to move our bodies to increase blood flow.  The best way to start exercising if we haven’t started is by walking.  Walking just about 20 minutes a day improves circulation, supports cardiovascular health, and enhances oxygen delivery to the skin—helping it appear more vibrant and healthy over time.  After that you have aerobics, followed by cardio, HIIT, and strength training.  These exercises get the heart pumping and increase circulation.

Exercise has so many benefits.  The action itself helps with mental health, cardiovascular health, muscular health, and skin health.  One action and 4 benefits (of which I’m sure there’s more).  Few habits offer as many benefits from a single action.

3. Eat an Anti-Inflammatory Diet to Age-Gracefully

Beauty starts from the inside.  Over time, a diet high in ultra-processed foods makes it difficult to maintain clear, vibrant skin.  A diet that’s mostly comprised of ultra-processed foods can lead to blemishes, dull skin, and eventually wrinkles. This type of diet promotes inflammation which further promotes aging.

So what can we eat to promote healthy skin?  Fruits and vegetables of course.  They seem to be the answer to everything -don’t they.  Fruits and vegetables contain the nutrients needed to fight off aging.   Of course the Mediterranean diet I will say is the gold standard thus far in obtaining nutrients associated with healthy longevity.  However, I would like to make it clear, there are several diets worldwide which help to fight against aging -all in their own way.  We just need research to back it up.  Whatever your ethnicity or race may be, there is a diet and food pyramid that follows your culture.  Following this diet will greatly impact your life in a positive way.  If you would like a free download of all the different food pyramids click here!

4. Prioritize Sleep — your skin’s overnight repair window to aging beautifully

They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing!  Sleep is not “a break” from life.  Many have said and do say: “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” not knowing they are running their bodies and minds down to the ground.

Sleep is imperative for a healthy life and healthy skin!  By going to sleep, we’re allowing our body to repair itself, especially our skin.  During sleep, the skin undergoes collagen production and cellular repair. This process helps restore skin elasticity, reduce fine lines, and improve overall skin quality over time.

By making sleep a priority for beautiful, healthy, glowing skin, we are prioritizing self-care as well. This makes the importance of having a night time routine all the more important.

5. Manage stress — to allow aging-gracefully

Did you know that stress can age you?  Stress ages people at the cellular level and through our skin.  Additionally, it’s not so much the stress itself but how we handle that stress.  Stress affects structures at the ends of our DNA called telomeres. Over time, chronic stress can shorten these telomeres, which is associated with accelerated aging. The longer telomeres we have, the longer our genes stay healthy and are less prone to mutations.

Stress is here to stay but what can we do to manage it? There are a number of ways to manage stress: meditation, prayer, exercise, deep-breathing/breathing exercises, positive thinking, and social interactions. Practicing one, some, or all of these habits can make stress feel conquerable.  I’m not saying to ignore the complications of life called stress through positive thinking.  I am saying to be grateful for what we do have during difficult times.

In life there is only so much we can control.  The more we focus on what we can control, the more empowered we become.

6. Retinol -the #2 anti-aging product

This active ingredient is an important active that helps people look younger.  How does this work?  Retinol itself causes increased cellular turnover.  This leads to collagen production which results in a youthful skin appearance over time; making it an anti-aging habit favorite.

Retinol was originally discovered as an acne medication.  However, studies have consistently shown that retinol improves fine lines, wrinkles, and skin texture.

Because retinol increases sensitivity to sunlight, it’s best to use retinol containing products at night followed by an SPF during the day.  Retinol is one of those accessible over the counter skin creams at different price points which will allow almost everyone access to healthy, glowing skin.

There are now retinol alternatives such as bakuchiol.

I have been using retinol for almost 15 years and continue to use it in different products.  I’ll list the products I have used, currently use now & recommend here:

L’oreal Triple Action Repair Cream

Neutrogena Retinol Moisturizer

ROC Retinol Correxion Face Serum

Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum

7. Hyaluronic Acid -another holy grail anti-aging product!

Hyaluronic Acid is an amazing product because our skin already makes it.  The problem is that it decreases with age.  Fortunately for us, there are a multitude of over the counter products we can use that contain hyaluronic acid.  There are only two products that I have used with hyaluronic acid & recommend and they are:

Neutrogena Hydro boost Water Gel

L’oreal Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Bonus: Water!

Yes, water!  Something so basic is also anti-aging but so important in how our body functions.  Water to the body is like the oil to a car.  When we don’t drink enough water, we are depriving our body of the ability to function at its best.

Hydration with water helps prevent dehydration, which can make fine lines and skin appear more noticeable.  By drinking the right amount of water daily, we can set up our bodies and skin up for success to be the best it can be.

The ideal amount of water people can drink is ½ of their body weight in ounces. Replace 8-16 ounces with an electrolyte drink.

Key Takeaways

  1. Use SPF 30 or higher -every day
  2. Move Your Body -daily
  3. Nutrition, Nutrition, Nutrition -eat an anti-inflammatory diet (Mediterranean or DASH or cultural)
  4. Get Your Beauty Sleep -7-9 hours, aim for consistency
  5. Learn to Manage Stress -meditation, prayer, breathing exercises, positive thinking/being grateful, and social interactions
  6. Retinol -use at night and use an SPF during the day to prevent skin cancer
  7. Hyaluronic Acid -use daily AM & PM
  8. Bonus: Water -drink daily

Conclusion

The goal here isn’t to chase youth—it’s to feel confident, strong, and vibrant at every stage of life.  The only person you should compare yourself to is who you were yesterday. Not someone younger, not someone different—you. Because real progress happens when we focus inward, not outward.  For generations, aging—especially for women—has been something to fear or hide. But that narrative is changing. We are stepping into a time where aging represents growth, wisdom, and power.

Taking care of your skin is not about vanity. It’s about honoring your health and showing up for yourself in a way that reflects how you truly feel on the inside.  Because the truth is, health is the new wealth. And as longevity science continues to evolve, how we care for ourselves today will shape how we live tomorrow.  When you support your skin through these 7 anti-aging habits, you support your entire body.  And that is a future worth investing in!
